COVID-19 Policy

We encourage you to get vaxxed or boosted as, according to the CDC, vaccination has proved to be the most effective measure against the virus.

Please see Austin’s Covid-19 risk based guidelines. There you will find updated guidance from Austin Public Health regarding how citizens of Austin and StartupBus participants are to protect themselves from the virus. These guidelines explain how the county governs the people of Austin as it relates to COVID-19.

In order to participate in StartupBus 2022, you must provide proof of full vaccination or produce a negative test in lieu of vaccination. StartupBus participants will provide proof to the Conductor that has been assigned to their bus. Any paid participant that chooses not to be fully vaccinated nor provide a negative test will not be allowed to participate. All sales are final, and no refunds will be returned for failing to abide by our COVID policy. The following will prevent you from attending StartupBus 2022 in any capacity:

  • You have tested positive for COVID-19 and have not completed the CDC’s guidelines for discontinuing isolation.
  • You are experiencing symptoms consistent with COVID-19.
  • Prior to the first day of the event, you have had close contact with someone who has tested positive for COVID-19, but you have not completed the Quarantine and Isolation Guidelines recommended by the CDC.

For the participants that choose to provide proof of vaccination, the vaccination must be up to date as of the last day of our competition, July 31, 2022. For participants choosing to provide a negative test in lieu of vaccination, the negative test must be provided no sooner than July 25, 2022, which is 2 days before the start of our competition. Negative test results must be provided before boarding any of our buses.

All participants are encouraged to bring masks on their route to Austin, TX in the event individual establishments along the route to Austin require them before entering.

Please note that the CDC has provided guidelines for non-US citizens visiting the United States and that those rules may require non-US residents to be fully vaccinated before entering the country. Any non-US citizen participating in StartupBus 2022 must comply with any US government mandate related to travel. See the CDC’s COVID-19 Testing Requirement for International Travel to the United States for the most up-to-date information.

We will continue to monitor the guidance set forth by the CDC, the airline industry and Austin Public Health, and the City of Austin in order to have a safe event.
