About

In early 2012, veterans of the waste and environmental industry met up with a team of software developers and began to ask questions.

  • Why is managing my waste stream so difficult?
  • What if waste profiling was made easier?

The result of that conversation was the birth of Wastebits, a company dedicated to tackle this problem head-on, transforming the waste industry through ease of use, and real-time collaboration.

Wastebits is an online waste profiling system that serves:

  • Waste facilities
  • Service Providers
  • Waste Generators

People, conversations, and waste activities are all connected within a single ecosystem, providing the right people with the right information at the right time. Our software reduces the pain of the waste profile process by helping customers understand and take immediate action on their waste stream to improve operational performance and reduce costs.

After almost 2 years of building and refining the software, Wastebits officially launched in January 2014. Since then, we've been supporting clients ranging from Fortune 500 companies to small and medium independent service providers across North America and beyond.

We'd love to show you how Wastebits can save you time and help grow your business. You should schedule a demo today.

The StartupBus Story

The Wastebits team was made up of people from North East Ohio who decided to get extra adventurous with their StartupBus experience and ride out of Las Vegas instead of Cleveland in 2012.

The team was comprised of Ray Lewis (Business Developer), Chris Laco (Programmer), Doug Yoder (Programmer), and Scott Meier (Designer), and was also supplemented by their friends back in Ohio Andrea Young and Dan Collins.

The group of friends had came to the competition with the idea for Wastebits but originally decided to attempt to work on different teams. They all split but during the second day of the competition they found themselves more intrigued by the idea of disrupting the waste industry then the projects the teams they had joined were working on. So over breakfast of day 2 the four of them decided to leave their teams and form Wastebits.

From the Founders

Ray Lewis

StartupBus is not a hackathon or an entrepreneurs motivational event--it's a bonafide bootcamp that does more to turn "smart people" into "smart founders" than any other program I've ever seen.

Scott Meier founder of Wastebits

Scott Meier

The StartupBus community is chocked full of amazing individuals that really do care enough to work together to make the world a better place.

Chris Laco

Imagine compressing a year's worth of up and downs, successes and failures, and making business contacts into 4 days. It's a pressure cooker that prepares people for the startup lifestyle and gives them the tools and contacts to make it out there in the wild. The StartupBus isn't just an event. It's a life changing experience and I have the bus tattoo to prove it.
